2006 Audi A6 "Missfiring"
Welcome to all. I own a 2006Audi A6 on which I have only 11000 miles on it. Here's my problem. A month ago at 10000 miles, upon starting the engine (Cold Start) the engine seem to have a rough idle. Next thingI know the check engine light comes on and the engines as it warms up, returns to normal idle, no roughness at all. I take it to the dealer, he reads the faults on it (Error codes) and indicateds to me that certain cylinders missfired but are ok now. So he resets the check engine light and tells me that if the check engine light comes on again he will have to keep the car to determine the problem. A month goes by and once againat cold start the engine runs rough, the check engine light comes and back to dealer I go. Once againthey check theerror codes and determine that cylinders have missfired(different cylinders I should add from the 1st go around) but the kicker is that theengine is running fine, notcurrenlty missfiring. So now they want to keep the car to put additional miles on it to see when the engine starts to missfire once again but apparently to witness for themselves the event. I see no logic in this plan. I am starting to think thatI have lemon on my hands. My background as a engineer tells me that there is short some where but then again I am not the expert. OK, enough talk,Has any one out there experienced the same problem with any of your A6's and if so, what was the fix so that I may offer some advice to my dealer. I don't need them to start putting additional miles on my car to figure out the rootcause.
UPDATE! 03-31-07
Dealer updated Engine Control Programming as per Bulletin 3 2010890/3
So far so good!
