I have a 97 a4 1.8t, with and engine and tranny that were replaced. Don't know what year the eng or tranny are, but the car is a 97. The motor/trans has about 53k, and the body has about 116k. Basically what's happening is that the car won't shift past first, instead it's just climbing to redline. After a while, it will finally shift. Any idea what's going on?

P.S.: The car is a non TIP auto, Quattro, and has had a CEL for a while.
