Hi,
I redlined my a4 because of slack mode...when it happened something got loud with the exhaust.
there's a pipe on the passenger side in between the engine and the air filter that blew off its attachment point.I can easily reach it from the top of the engine compartment.
Anyone know what this is?
I have to get it to the shop and am also wondering if I can drive it there or will i ruin something?

i dunno what your really refering to... could be boost bypass... or pcv...

i'm not gonna make a judgement on its stability w/o knowing more information about exactly wha it is

it looks like exhaust pipe (metal) i think its near the turbo? in the engine compartment.
hot air blow into it

 

i may not be using the correct word for slack
all the selectors for the shift are lit up at once and tranny dont work right.no reverse unless i cancel codes the after putting in forward gears reverse will be gone untill i reset codes again with vagcom

 

you have to do this everytime you run the car...?

and which engine are we talking about...? it sounds like an air pump or something other than which i intially listed

looks like something w/ the secondary air system.

and i'd be more concerned w/ your trans issues... cause thats bad.

 

Yuou probably have a broken catalytic converter near the turbo.
