Default A4 2002 Radio reception fix

To all:

I am new to the post but thought I would share this in the hopes it helps someone else. I just bought a used A4 2002 and my radio reception was very poor. I looked on several forums and found little information. But I did find a complete audio guide on line and was able to create a fix.

The A4 seems to have a diversity antenna in the rear window that plugs into an antenna amp that is located just above the rear window under the trim piece. This is held to the window with plastic clips. When I put it on a weak station and put pressure on the unit to the window it fix the issue. I then fabricated a ABS plastic piece that was bent to put pressure on the unit and screwed into a location with a VERY short screw (don't want to put a screw though the roof). NOTE: Make sure you drill where the ground screw mounts if not you can cause serious damage. I have included an image but it was taken with my blackberry so it is not so good. I then stacked up double stick under the pressure point until I was sure it was working. I hope this helps someone.

macgyver over here... lol

yea thats a common problem. took a real genius to decide to mount a circuit board to a piece of glass that amplifies heat and doesn't do anything to keep out moisture.

Where did you find the forum that had the fix? I have a 2003 A4 Cabriolet with the same problem.
