Default AM/FM Radio Reception

I am having trouble with my AM/FM radio reception I have an '02 A4 1.8T and I have the Bose system in it. I love the system but the radio doesn' t work at all. I went to the dealer and they said I would need a booster which will cost $300. I was wondering if anyone has had the same problem and if there is any way to fix this problem without spending that kind of money.

Yes its a fairly regular probem and the only way to fix it is to replace the booster. You may be able to do it yourself. I dont recall exactly but i think it may be under a trim panel at the top of the rear window on your particular model. If thats the case carefully pry out the panel. Its about 2-3 inches wide and spans the lenth of the rear window. Under that is the diversity antenna. Unbolt/clip it and put the new one in.

Can anyone tell me where this booster is in the 2003 A6 Avant? My Am reception has gone south and don't believe it is the antenna, makes more sense it would be the booster.
