Hello,

I have a 2003 A4 3.0 Quattro (automatic transmission) with about 80k miles. Lately it has been making a strange noise and I haven't had much luck identifying what it could be.

The noise doesn't start until I have been driving for about 10-15 minutes and the car is warmed up. At that point whenever I start let off the accelerator a whiny hum (kind of similar to a jet engine?) starts and gets louder and louder until I come to a complete stop.

I have noticed it is the worst going down a particular hill on the way to work where I slow down to make a right turn. At this point it is quite loud, however it doesn't seem to change much with steering on level roads...
