Default A6 Frozen Door Lock Mechanism

Any help appreciated! I have a 2001 A6 2.7T (new to me). I live in the northeast, and with our recent cold, snowy and wet weather I have had a few mornings where I get into my car (parked outside), pull the driver's door closed, and it bounces back open. That is, the lock, or closing mechanism for that matter, does not engage. When the weather is warmer it does not happen, and when the car heats up it is OK. However, until that time, I have to either drive holding the door shut (tough with a manual trans), or when I'm lucky I have been able to lock the door shut with the electronic door locks, which keeps it shut until I get where I'm going, or it warms up sufficiently. The problem only occurs with the driver's door. Anyone else experience this problem? Is there a quick fix for this? Thanks.

yes happens to me too, unfortunatly i dont have keyless entry either so sometimes i cant even get into my car. the best fix if found is to just spray some silicon spray and/or lithium grease. for quick fixes just hit it with a bit of wd-40. i say this only because sometimes lubing it dosent work.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, having the keyless entry helps, when I can "lock myself in." Unfortunately, sometimes that doesn't work. I have tried the WD-40, which didn't seem to help much. I can try it again. Do you spray right into the keyhole? On the side of the door where the latch is? Thanks.

yeah you have to spray it into the latch on the side of the door, kinda aiming up and down with the straw and giving it a good spray all around.

I had the same thing happen with my A6. I got the door to Shut after warming the car up but the lights on the door stayed on and my display on the dashboard says the door is still open. Any Ideas on how to fix this ?
