Red face Abs!

hi recently i changed my axle boot.. everything went well not a problem.. after we put it all back together and made sure it was all good, i took it for a test drive .. everything was good and smooth except for the brakes .. when i was braking at a stop sign, before i completely stopped, my ABS would turn on ... its been like that for a couple days and then stopped.. now my brake light blinks and my abs light is on... pls help!

dropping info: http://www.audiworld.com/tech/elec116.shtml

I have the same problem and I'm searching for an existing thread to ask about this in. I'll plug this thread again if I find a better thread for this. In the meantime, check out this site and let me know what you think about the rebuild option:

http://www.modulemaster.com/en/index.php

160 bucks plus shipping and they include a DIY... seems pretty legit. I haven't heard anything about them though and I'd like to get an idea of what their reputation is...

it might just be a coincidence that it started right after you changed that boot. you may have a sensor going out, but this is a VERY common problem with our cars.

I suggest you find someone with a VAG-COM and scan your car to see what those codes are from. if it throws one of the codes listed in that DIY, you know your ABS Module needs replacing or rebuilding.

Good luck man.

I'd say look at the sensor where you changed the boot. These things need to be at a set distance from the ABS ring and clean from brake dust and crud. Since you were in there, make sure its still correct and clean.
