Default Air box help

On the factory air box for a 2000 A4 1.8t, there is a secondary air inlet hose that attaches to the front of the box. It is flat and plastic. Has anyone had problems with this piece breaking(where it connects to the air box)? Is there a better replacement? Please help.

Thanks

Default RE: Air box help

Hey, I have an '05 A4 and had the same prob. with that hose, from what i understand, it is basically an air inlet that helps the car idle when it is cold. I threw a K&N filter right on the mass air flow sensor, it'll fit right on there, and a little pep-boys filter on the little hose. I then mounted the factory heat sheild back into its original place via a homemade bracket. Works very well.
