Default Airbag light

I recently acquired an A6 1999 2.8L (pre-facelift) with 105,000K miles. I have a continuous "airbag light" illuminated. Just curious if anyone has any experience with this problem? Many thanks.

Mine had a bad airbag sensor at 120K

The dealer computer tested and replaced.

Thanks for the quick response; It looks like I'll have to buy a VAG-COM OBD-II. I also have a problem with my "Check Engine Light". Took it to the dealer only to find that after $1300.00, they replaced the ECU, ( are these things VIN specific)? this still hasn't fixed the problem. They now claim it's a pair of bad catalytic converters ($5,000). Hard to believe they'd both fail at the same time. Could it be a problem with the oxygen sensors? If so, are these a big deal to replace?

I really do appreciate the help here. It's good to know I'm not the only one experiencing these strange problems.

dealers just guess whats wrong, they take the easiest way out. a pair of universal would be 300 buks, they will work good too, if it comes to that.

I think there may have been a tech bullintin on an updated reproggraming for the ecm. Not sure if it was for the 2.8 or 2.7 or both but it dealt with catalytic converter codes.
