Default I repaired my light switch! Now an airbag light question

I think I found the answer to this already, but trying to clarify...

I had my steering wheel off today to repair my light switch. Afterwards, I noticed my airbag light stays on. Looks like (from reading another thread) that I need to have this cleared by someone with a VAGCOM? Is this right, or is there another way to accomplish this reset?

That is correct, Vagcom is necessary. There aren't any shadetree methods to do it. I'm curious - was the bag light on already or did you not disconnect the battery when you fixed the switch?
