Default Alternatives to Dealership Repairs (esp in Chicago?)

I'm a first-time Audi owner, and a first-time "car I REALLY LOVE" owner too. I used to be satisfied to take my old car to whatever mechanic was closest. Now I really want a mechanic that knows my car and offers a high-quality, and honest repair experience, so I've always taken my 2003 A4 1.8T Quattro to the closest dealership for repairs and maintenance.
Recently, I've been pretty let down by the dealership service experience.
What alternatives are there to the dealership service? Any specific shop recommendations in the Chicago area (particularly Northside/northern suburbs)?

ive used NTB for most stuff and theyve been good, i also live near aurora which is very industrious so i find alot of small workshop that can do some good work depending on what i need, if your looking for an actual audi specific shop look into blauparts, they have a facilty about an hour away from the north burbs in wisconson and charge $65/hr labour which isnt bad.
