RE: Programing for Valet key - $140??
The fob needs programming, not the vallet key.
The following instructions are to reprogram your switchblade key fob.
1. Take a spare key and insert it into the ignition. Turn it one click forward.
2. Roll down your window just in case. Step outside the car, and lock the car with a second key.
3. With your second key fob press the unlock button. The lights should flash.
4. Now lock the car with the key fob, and then unlock it.
5. Remove the key from the lock and the key from the ignition, and try it's function.

yes the valet key needs programming to the immobilizer. all audi vehicles since 2001 or 2002 I cant remember have immobilizer. $140 is a little high for programming keys. anything less than 80 is reasonable.

RE: Programing for Valet key - $140??
It seems like the procedure works for most people, but not for me. My car is 2004 A4 and it came with switchblade key fob with 3 buttons (lock, trunk, and unlock) on the front and panic on the side. I have to follow the following procedures:
1. Hold on unlock button of the key fob (the one just changed battery)
2. Insert and turn it to inigtion (still holding down unlock button)
3. Switch off, remove the key, and release unlock button (turn signals should blink twice)
4. Press either lock or unlock of the key fob
5. You are set...
I just re-program my keys using above steps and it worked great.
