Antilock system problem
I have a 1.8 A4 quattro. Sometimes my antilock system comes on when I am close to a complete stop no matter if the road is dry or wet. I wonder if anyone has had this problem before and has a idea about this issue.
I've never had this problem with my A8, but I did put up with it, with my Camry, for 5 years-ish. It was only ever for the last few feet of stop-ed-ness-ivity, and always occurred when I was stopping and turning at the same time. Forward and/or reverse. New tires or old. Wet or dry. Inasmuch as it didn't really affect my braking performance, otherwise, I never bothered tracking down what caused teh phenomena... If I were to hazard a guess, based on what I understand of teh technology, I'd say, im *MY* case, it was probably caused by moderately unloading the inside (mine only happened while turning and stopping, remember) -rear tire, slightly, while braking, thereby causing that particular tire to experience MORE braking force (if the tire's unloaded there is less drag, so it'll stop more easily) than the other three tires, thereby causing the ABS system to activate in an attempt to equalize the brake-force distribution among all four tires.
But that's just off teh top of my head.
If I thought too hard about it I attribute it to pixies, or gremlins, or intermittent instances of celestial dark matter interfering with the space-time continuum...
