Audi 2001 1.8T Fuel Pump Issue?
Hey guys,
I am new to the forum (which is somewhat a good thing)!! I have 100k miles on my car, and have not had ONE problem with my care since I have owned it. At 75,000 I did some preventative maintainence on my vehicle with regards to timing belt and water pump, but outside of that - consistent oil changes, and tuneups always!
Anyway, my luck has passed it seems. I went to start my vehicle this weekend, and all was well, except that the engine wouldn't turn over. The starter was clicking (no different from day 1 when the vehicle was bought) however the car itself would simply not start. I did a bit of trouble-shooting and I'm fairly positive the fuel pump went bad. One caveot to this, is that I parked on a 20ish degree incline the night before I started my car, and consequently was on a 20 degree incline the next morning when I tried to start it. I am thinking that I fried the fuel pump.
I don't hear the "hummm" coming from the fuel tank like I'm supposed to when I start the ignition, I don't smell any gasoline, and everything else seems to be running 100% normal. If anyone has any feedback for me regarding this issue, a similar issue, or any advice at all I would appreciate it. I am trying to keep this somewhat cost effective if possible - but if anyone knows what a certified dealership is going to charge me to look/order/fix this I would appreciate any information at all. I will follow-up shortly to any posts.
Thanks in advance,
Whit

Your saying that the engine doesn't even turn over and you think its a fuel pump issue?
You're probably not hearing the fuel pump hum because there isn't any power to turn on the fuel pump. [&:]
I would say have your battery checked out.
