I have a 02 a4 1.8t i got it in july and got a carfax buy back guarantee.. the only thing thats bugging the hell out of me is a noise comming from the rear right side of the car.. its a whirring noise that comes and goes but if im on the highway for example it will stay on until i turn the car off... i took it back to the dealer and they can't find anything wrong? ami going crazy???

 

when it happens how much fuel is in the tank??

 

Fuel pumps on A4's are loud. I can almost always hear my fuel whirring away.

 

it does not matter how much gas is in the tank i happens when its full half, empty or anywhere in between

 

fuel pump is in the tank so no noise should be heard but the fuel filter is near the tank underside of the car and it might be vibrating on the chassis

Go get a Walbro GSS 340 it will work great

 

Good think I had this same problem. It's your fuel filter. If you bend down and look at the filter when it's making that noise, you'll be able to tell it's that. Just a clogged up filter. Easy to replace. PM me if you need help. I did a write up on install. Also, check to see if your fuel pump is covered under the recall. That's not what's making the noise, but still nice to have a new fuel pump for free if you fall under the recall.
