Default Audi A4 windows lowering on ignition

I have an Audi A4 Avant 2.8L, 1998 with a weird problem. When I start it, one or all of the windows will lower; this is really annoying in a thunderstorm!! The convenience feature where you can lower all the windows with the key in the door lock is not working anymore either. I have pulled the central locking control module out and the circuit board or electrical connections are clean and dry. The central locking and interior lights are all working fine. Not sure if the Central locking module is bad, but looks ok.
Any suggestions would be good!
thanks
James

I would be more concerned with a comfort module glitching if your car has one. I have never seen or heard of this issue so I would be curious what you find.. I will help as much as I can.. Try disconnecting the comfort module and see if it still does it..

The comfort/conveneince features are part of the central locking module I believe. If I unplug it then locks, windows, interior lights etc dont work. My gut feeling is that there is a glitch in the circuitry for the central locking module?! Not sure though...
