Hey guys, I have a 99 A6Q with 131000 miles and ive been getting a vibration/shudder when i turn, i replaced my drive shaft serviced my quattro system after all that it was still going on, the mechanic told me its the transfer case and 1500.00 to rebuild, is this right?????

 

Could it just be the all-wheel-drive system? Not necessarily a problem, but when turning the front and rear wheels don't travel at exactly the correct speed so slight wheel spin occurs. I've had this happen on other 4-wheel drive cars and so didn't notice anything too new. This happens with mine as well and hopefully my diagnoses is correct, otherwise i'll be in the same boat as you!

This has nothing to do with that. That's general in-balance problems with your wheel (generally noticed at high speeds), what we're talking about occurs when traveling near 5mph while turning fairly sharp.

 

When turning near full lock, the front wheels should
be toe-out. A front-end shop would check this and more.
