Audi Q7 / Error Code # P0171
I have a 2008, Audi Q7 4.2L
Recently I got an check engine light, error code # P0171 (Bank 2). I took it to the local O'Reilly's auto parts to have the code check, came out P0171. After googling it - saw a video with the same error code.
The take away from the video was to listen for a leak ... as the vast majority of these types of errors are from air leaks .. and sure enough I did hear something on the left side of the engine ... it was a high-pitched sound. .. so after feeling around I found it - on this three way hose. It was partially cracked. Any idea what this is? Please see attached pictures. I believe maybe its the secondary air system ?
As you can see, I wrapped the hose as best I could with electrical tape until I get it fixed.
CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT PART / SYSTEM THIS IS? VACUUM? SECONDARY?
many thanks
John

There is a sticky thread above that has a link to the ETKA Online Parts Catalog for all VW/Audi Group vehicles. Here's the link: http://vagfans.info/ You can drill down into that and determine the part number for that particular part. You can probably find that part brand new on Ebay or some other online parts dealer for half of what you would pay at the "stealer". I can't view the parts catalog link from here at work for some reason (blocked) but I'll take a look when I get home this evening to see if I can determine it and see what options you have on buying it for a good price.

Update: I was able to get to the catalog but was unable to find an item in the Crankcase Vent or Secondary Air Systems that look like that. You might be able to get a part number off the hose if you can get it out. Usually those molded hoses have the part number molded into them or stamped somewhere on them.

Dave,
Thanks for the input. I had my local import guy look at it and he said it's the vacuum system. He made some phone calls and said that the replacement piece would costs $270 and labor about $200. No bueno. He said it would be a couple of weeks till he could get to it .. I then had another shop look at it and he said the replacement would be $103 but with about $300.00 in labor to install. The same shop also did say that the cracked line could probably be repaired w/out needing replacement ..
FYI; wrapping it in electrical tape did clear the code.
Thoughts?
Thanks again

$200-$300 to remove a vacuum line? That's on TOP of the engine? FTS.
Is it hard plastic? Use some JB Weld on the cracks. You'll probably have to clear the codes before it will turn off the Check Engine Light regardless.
See if you can get a part number off it and post it.
