AWD Keeps turning off 1992 audi 100
This is for a 1992 Audi 100 Quatro 5spd , v6
Car is in great shape everything works except the awd. When you hit the awd button to turn it on it'll stay on for a while... you actually feel that its working but if you go over a bump or a pot hole the light just turns off and you feel it go back to fwd.. So you can be driving for 5-10 mins or 30mins provided smooth surface. Has anyone had similar probs any help greatly appreciated big snowfall here so =).....

im not too farmiliar with the audi 100 but im pretty sure you arent turning off your all wheel drive. The button i think your referring to is the differential lock. It dosent stay on for a long time. you really cant turn off quattro as it is a full time awd.

I had the same problem in my 1990 coupe quattro, I'd hit the button for the electronic diff lock and it would show the green arrow, and as soon as I'd start going it would shut off, Found out about a week later after having the car that it turning off is normal operation. The electronic rear diff lock is only meant for when it's needed for getting out of something, or a start out from an intersection in the snow. It will only stay on until about 14mph. Leaving it on is a bad idea anyways, with it on you have absolutly no diff action in the rear and when you take a corner with it on it's harmful to the driveline.
