Bad Fuel Pump = Misfires?

Bad Fuel Pump = Misfires?
Could a bad Fuel Pump be the cause for random misfires? Ignition coils and spark plugs are brand new but I have had several fuel pump issues in the past. Could it be the culprit now?

RE: Bad Fuel Pump = Misfires?
sure could. any lack of fuel can cause a missfire. is the MIL lit? not to question your knowlege but are you sure its missing and not just running rough? vibration? what kind of test equipment do you have? new plugs and coils covers the secondary assuming they are installed correct, correct type, and correct gap.. if that is all set, it could be the primary. do you have a DMM? check the input voltage. Put a stethascope, or a long screwdriver as a substatute, on each injector and listen to make sure they are clicking.just a couple places to start

RE: Bad Fuel Pump = Misfires?
Could be other things too. If the misfire is fuel-related, it could also be other components. Fuel filter that is clogged, faulty fuel pressure regulator, etc - a lot of it depends on when the misfiring is occurring. Is it when the car is idling? I'd be inclined more toward the pump in that case. Is it only under load, o or maybe going uphill? In that case, I'd look into filter/FPR first. Make a note of when it's happening (ie, under what driving conditions) to help narrow it down. It could be something else entirely too, such as a bad mass airflow sensor (incorrect readings can skew your fuel delivery) or bad O2 sensors (will make the car run rich, killing power and fuel economy and fouling plugs, causing rough running). Take careful note of when it happens, in as many different conditions as you can, and make a follow-up post on here, and maybe we can help you out more specifically.
