battery dead

I have a problem. I think my battery is completely dead (5yrs old). Im having trouble removing the battery because the only bolt that I see for the battery is under this metal bar and i cant reach it. can someone provide some detailed instructions on how to remove the battery please. BTW i alreayd searched, not much help.
