Battery Life and warranty
Ok I've searched around for days now and i barely found any information on typical battery or warranty and life of newer Audis.
We have an 06 a6 3.2 w/ navi its exactly 23 months old now and 20,000 miles on the odometer, and today the battery died.
We took it to the dealership to only find out the battery is only covered for 12 month/12000 miles?!
that seems ridiculous to me! We have purchased new cars in the past and the batteries have at least 3 years, not to mention almost all the new batteries from sears, costco, even pep boys come with a warranty of 3 years and then prorated up to 5 years... i was expecting at least 2 years warranty on a brand new car.
This sucks now Audi wants 250 for a new battery .. im going to buy one else where, but i wanted to know if anyone has had the same problem with cheap batteries, and an even cheaper warranty on them.
Thanks is advance,
-Rob

I was talking to an Audi dealer mechanic, who happens to be a friend of mine, and he said it is typical for these cars to have batteries that only last 2 years or so. He says that is just what it is.
Also forgot to note that you can replace the battery on your own. It just requires removal of the access cover, and undoing 3 bolts. Just get a replacement battery from any auto parts store,
w/ the key onin the ignition an A6 candraw around 15 - 25 amps... which could kill you battery in 10 minutes.
thats why the warranty is so short. cause owners tend not to understand this and kill there own batteries all day long.

hxgaser is incorrect, If
Your A6 has a battery management control module the new battery serial numberhas to be coded to the control module.
And Audi batteries have DIN standards and specs... You can't take their word that its going to work.

Well apparently my battery wasnt DEAD, it just needed to be recharged?!
The problem i was having with the bose amp in the other thread was draining the battery, and thats why the car wasnt starting ... anchor audi told me the battery had a bad cell and needed to be replaced @ $264 and after what happened with them and me previously i decided to take it to two independent shops to get tested ....
result? THE BATTERY IS GOOD
oh man, the lies they will tell you ..
