Best AWD system?
If this had been discussed before please redirect me.
We're thinking of upgrading our DD, I want an RWD stick but the wife wants AWD.
I didn't really like the way my 07 BMW 328xi handled so Audi is my first stop.
Mainly because I associate "Quattro" as the original sporty, high performance AWD car.
I'll define the fun factor on a test drive but am interested in any advantages or unique capabilities of the "Quattro" system versus others.
Thanks

Quattro is just another name for AWD. There's really nothing all that "special" about it. I prefer the older systems though. The ones with the manually locking differentials but I think those were phased out with the introduction of the A series cars. The newer systems can "sense" a slipping wheel and transfer power away from it to the ones that are getting traction. Personally, I prefer having at least ONE AWD in the stable. I've never gotten stranded with it. They have always gotten me home when the snow starts flying.
