Default Big problem

Came home on my lunch break. Jumped back in my 99 a6 quattro to go back to work. Everything was fine omw home. But upon starting the car I noticed my headlights wouldn't come on, nor did my a/c blow, signals blink or horn honk...Changed every fuse that sounds like it may relate to the problem but still to no avail. Any ideas?

Also when I hit my alarm switch my signals do blink when locking the doors but thats about it. Car runs and turns on...No check engine lights. And when I put the car into drive the "OMG your headlights aren't on" warning symbol doesn't even pop up like it usually does cause I blow through headlights like crazy.

Gave it another try this morning and still nothing. I know the source has to be in one location since the signals, headlights, horn, and a/c all went out at once. I know it surely points to fuse problem. But Ive changed almost each one. Could it be something bigger? Hopefully not.

Could be. Pull the negative of your battery and let it sit for 15 minutes or more if you have the time, reconnect and see if that doesn't clear things up. Its easy and a good place to start. Good luck. If your blowing through headlights like crazy that sounds like an electrical problem you may want to address and could possibly be the culprit to your current dilemma. No clues on where to start there but to save yourself some dough on lights go to radio shack and get some in line resistors of really low impedence and reduce the amount of current going through your lamps. Find the rating of the healights and cross reference that against the current running through your headlight circuit and bring it down to that level. A little research into ohm's law would answer all your questions. Its jerry rigging but it will work.

Did you find a solution? I ask because the SAME thing has happened to me this week. Everything was fine one night coming home from work, and the next morning, no turn signals, no headlights (unless i "flash" high beams), no AC/heat, no horn, no wipers. I've replaced every fuse in the car and no fix. I took it to a "good old boy" auto-electrical place and they won't touch audis... Dealer says $600+ for a headlight switch, but after reading on here, i think it might be ignition switch. Wanted to see if you had any luck?

Thanks

Same problem here. I think it's my ignition switch. Does anybody have a good DIY for this?
