Default Blower motor (fan) 1990 Audi 100

Dear Friends: Help. I have proven I have heat, and cold, in my heating, cooling and defrost system. checked all fuses. I can NOT get the fan to cycle anymore, on either low or high. Dealer is going to want $200+ just to tell me what is wrong and probably another $300 to fix. Teenage daughter's car (and I can't let her drive it without working defrost) and it has spanked me for $800 the last 3 weeks on stero, power window and front brakes...so this might be the last straw before it goes to Charity. Any quick suggestions out there? On items and/or procedures to check?

Dealer guy wants me to pull all the plenum stuff under wipers in engin compartment and check voltage at blower motor and then, try jumping the motor with a fused jumper (so i don't burn anything out). Do you all agree?

Many thanks.

Audiless in Seattle. Matt

Thats a good place to start. If you have power to the motor, but no working motor you need a new motor. At least as long as you have a good ground also. The jumper wire is a good test to be absolutely sure. If you dont have power to the motor you need to find out where your losing the power.
