Brake lamp problem on A4
I have 02' A4 1.8T. Now I have a problem that one brake lamp is always on when I turn on the lights. Is it because of a break switch or some wiring problem? I see lots of Audi have the same problem... My concern is even I fix it, it might start doing it again. I heard Jetta and new beetle have already recall on this problem...Has anyone fixed it before (wanna know how much it costs about)? Thanks.

Check to see if any of your brake lights are working. If two of your brake light are burn't out or shorted out the last lamp will stay on. I had the same problem with my 2001 Jetta & there is a recall for VW on the brake module, Audi I don't know if they recalled it.

Vw has actully had three recalls for a brake light switch that looks an awful lot like the audi one. If it were a brake light switch issue thou you would see either all lights staying on or the lights not coming on at all. The switch cant cause only one light to come on.
Is it the left one thats staying on? Maybe you just have your rear foglight on and you dont know it. If you pull the headlight switch out 2 clicks when its turned all the way to the right only the left tail light will be illuminated brightly(like brake lights). Thats normal.

Have you changed the bulbs recently? i cant remember for sure but i believe in 02 the brake light bulbs had to be in a certain way since they are 2 prong on the bottom, try turning the bulb 180* then re installing
