Default Camshaft Replacement Sealant Use

Does anyone know (actual experience) what sealant to use between cam carrier and cylinder head? I have one vendor trying to sell D154103A1 while the dealer says his ETKA system calls for AMV18800102.

Those both look correct but one is for a 4 cyl, other for V6. What vehicle are you working on?

I believe it is a anaerobic compound they use. It hardens with the absence of air. Mercedes Benz , Porsche , Audi , Volvo all have there form of it. I would say any one of them would due.
Just remember it is not silicone based. I use paint stripper to remove it & apply with a small brush.

That engine would use the AMV18800102 for that area of the engine. It's 73.50 for this toothpaste size tube. It's white and has the consistency of a thin white lithium grease. It's not thick like average silicone. It's even thinner than the anaerobic sealer I've used on an older V6 toyota when I did a water pump. On that V6 it didn't use a gasket, used some special Toyota sealer but it worked well. I read the tube in box for more info and there wasn't anything else useful.

I was always taught ( in the uk) to use blue hylomar (permatex universal blue) for gaskets. It never sets so can deal with expansion/contracting. Also if silicone gets into the oil it can block oil ways where hylomar will just dissolve in the oil. Silicone for gaskets was always frowned upon.
