car jumps forward as I try to move forward
Hi Guys
My audi A4 automatic (2002).
When in D and I try to move forward and I lift my foot off the brake, car jumps. Sometimes it stalls other times it will jerk couple of times before moving of.
I was told it is transmission oil and filter. I spent £85 getting that done. Problem still persists.
Any clues guys, what could be?
Thanks
Sainy

Hi Dave
I dont know what you mean by "OBD codes". But there is nothing coming up on the dashboard, that would give any hints that something is wrong.
Dashboard looks normal as ever.
Hope you can guide me.
Thanks again

You need to have the OBD (On Board Diagnostic) codes read from the car. An automotive parts store should be able to connect a regular code reader to the car to see if there are any codes in memory that might indicate an issue. There are actually two computers on board the car. One for the engine and one for the transmission (automatics). The reader should be able to communicate with both.
However, what you are describing sounds like a mechanical issue inside the clutch packs in the transmission. There are spring plates in the clutch packs that help smooth the physical engagement of the clutches to make the car move in each gear.
See if you can get any OBD codes first though.
