car shakes when accel...
hey guys, i recently bought my 03 a4 and noticed that sometimes my car would shake when my foot is on the gas.. sometimes it would ride smooth. SOMETIMES.... what could be the problem? thanX!
tarz, under what conditions have you noticed this, other than "sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't"? While turning? Under HARD acceleration? Soft acceleration? In teh rain? Full moon? Uphil? Down? With/without passengers? Cheap gas?
We need more info...
If it's only doing it "sometimes," that would suggest there are specific conditions under which it occurs. Try to notice if there are any unique circumstances to when it happens, and post that back here. We'll be better able to help you if we have a bit more info.

ok.. the car shakes everytime i accel. when i ease off the gas it would stop shake but when the gas pedal is pressed the car would shake again. the harder i step on the pedal the harder it shakes. thanks for the .02
Check your motor mounts and drivetrain.
Does the car shake while parked? In other words rev the motor slowly up to at least 3k. If it doesn't do it while sitting still, it obviously needs a load to shake.
Does the car make any noises while it's shaking? Clunks, clanks, and so on.
It would be even more helpful if you can be more specific or just more info like AWDaholic suggested.

We're all glad to help, when we can, but you've gatta give us good symptoms to work wit. "It hurts when I do THIS" isn't all that helpful, you see...
it could also be ur tie rod or axel. theres alot of things that can be wrong the deffinate way to tell what is wrong is to go to a gas station that does inpection stickers and maby i there cool u throw them like 20 bucks and they can test the tierods and axel and that crap for ya
sorry.. its just hard to explain it coz it acts different everyday. somedays it would shake harder than usual and some days it would'nt shake as much. weather, uphill roads any cond. it would do this prob. i think im just going to bring it in the dealership. then ill post what they say.. thanx
OK, we're narrowing it down. Understand, since we can't test-drive it, over the web, asking incessant questions is the only option we have lleft to us.
So, does the shuddering seem to be related to ENGINE speed, or vehicle speed? (does the shaking change speed or frequency when your tranny upshifts?) Or, does it continue to get worse as you accelerate?
