At the risk of being laughed at, what is the most common reason for the check engine light finally coming on after 101,000 miles? The car is running perfectly and nothing seems to have changed. I cleaned the air filter checked the obvious stuff that would cause a warning light but I can't seem to find anything wrong. Any and all information on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

could be anything, no way to tell without having the code read. anything as simple as a vaccuum leak, to a bad o2 sensor, evap issue. goto autozone and have them read the code for free, but dont buy anything from them if they tell you what (they think) the problem is.
