Default diagnosis

i have just bought a 1.8t a6 , 1998 model. and i think that the ecu has been cleared of all error codes becuse nothing is showing up on my scanner . its it possible to reset the ecu so i can see the codes and fix any problems ...my abs light is on and brake warning..
plz plz help.....john

If you are saying that you have no codes stored now, no, you cannot go back and find "cleared" codes. BUT, if the light / lights are on now, go drive the car 15-20 min's , I would bet that you will have codes stored again... you might not have to drive at all.
