Which Diagnostics Setup...?
Okay, so I bought my Audi - a 2002 A4 3.0L Quattro - and now need a diagnostics setup for when it all goes wrong. I've searched the forums and on eBay to see what's available but the more I look, the more confused I become.

I already have an OBDII reader for my other cars but when I tried to plug into the Audi I couldn't get it to fit. I then discovered that VAG cars need there own readers. When I started to research I also found that some people use a laptop with VAG-COM cable and software. Can anyone explain the advantages/disadvantages of either system..? Also, what's the difference between the $40 readers, the $80 readers and the $150+ readers on eBay..?
I don't intend doing any tweaking within the ECU; I just want to read diagnostics from the various modules on my car and reset the fault lights if neccessary. Should I go for cheap and cheerful reader, a more expensive one or buy a cable and software for use with my laptop? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks in advance...
