Door Ajar/Key in Ignition Alarm Stopped Working
I have a 2005.5 3.2 A4 and within the past couple of days, my car stopped making alarm sounds. By "alarm sounds", I mean the constant beeeeeeeep that sounds when you turn your car off, but leave the key in the ignition and open the door, or when you leave your headlights on when you take your key out of the ignition.
About 3 weeks ago my coolant light started going off; the level was a little low, so I added coolant. But the light stayed on. After further inspection, I saw that the wires leading to the bottom of the coolant tank, where the sensor is, were severed. It looked like a clean cut and it gave me the chills a little bit, but I know little about cars so I'm not going to jump to any conclusions (like "someone cut the wire"). Could this be a factor? That alarm no longer sounds either.
I have a service appointment for the coolant sensor on February 5th, but last night (the 28th), I left my headlights on because the alarm didn't sound (and I'm an idiot), so I'm hoping it is just a matter of changing a setting,
Please help!!
