Default Drivers door sensor / switch not working

Hello, my questions is for a 99 A6 2.8. My drivers door no longer activates the cabin light and door ajar warning. IfI open the door while the car is running the interior lights should turn on and the dash should ding and show the open door on the lcd screen. This does not happen. The interior lights are set to opperate whith the doors and all other three work. I cant use the alarm bypass for wind because the door doesn't show as open therfore bypassing the alarm override button at the base of the "B" post. Most cars have a button that the door presses to activate the light and so forth. This car has no button that I can find. Please help!! Thank you!

Default RE: Drivers door sensor / switch not working

The switch is integrated in the lock, so it cannot be seen from the outside and (obviously) cannot be changed by itself, only as a whole unit with the lock. Nice, right?

Default RE: Drivers door sensor / switch not working

Hi this has happened to my 1999 Audi A4, in addition to that the interior lights work when I set them to continuous on but none of the lights work when I open any of the doors or even the boot. I did have a problem whereby my central locking system was going up and down while driving but that seemed to have corrected it self. Would it make a difference if I removed the battery to reset the ECU (if I am correct hopefully this would make difference, but probably not?)
