Failing Catalytic Convertor Symptoms
Hello all, I've been trying to research, but haven't found any concrete evidence as to what the symptoms are of a failing cat. I am running a stage 1 tune in a C7.5 A6 3.0T w/95k miles, and I have started to notice, these past few weeks, a burning smell. I can only smell it when I walk by the side of the car (either driver or passenger). I thought at first my brakes calipers were stuck but I have ruled that out. Recently when I get home and smell this burning smell, I would pop my hood and inspect the engine bay. Haven't noticed any oil splatter or liquid in or around the engine bay. Coolant levels are fine (pump was recently replaced a year ago) and my oil levels are normal (according to the computer, still need to get a dipstick). Are there any symptoms that should be obvious as to failing cats. I do notice when I do hard pulls that I get a smell in the cabin (all windows up) it's not overwhelming but it's there if you pay attention to it. Coming from a GTO I've never dealt with or had to deal with a failing cat due to a tune so I am curious as to what i need to look out for.
