RE: AUDI A4 3.0 V6 FWD

MY AUDI HAS BEEN RECENTLY BEEN STUTTERING WHEN DRIVING. THE RPMS DROP SLIGHTLY AND I LOSE A LITTLE BIT OF POWER. I DIDNT HAVE ANY CODES POP UP ANYTIME DURING THIS SO IT WAS HARD TO KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. BUT YESTERDAY CHECK ENGINE FINALLY CAME UP AND MY CODE WAS P0302 (DEFIN: CYLINDER MISFIRE DETECTED- CYLINDER NUMBER 2) I REPLACED ALL SPARK PLUGS WITH DENZO PLUGS AND I STILL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. CLEARED CODES AND RE-READ.. SAME CODE ERROR. I AM GOING TO CHANGE OUT IGNITION COIL TOMORROW FOR COIL NUMBER 2. BUT MY MAIN QUESTION IS.... WHICH CYLINDER IS WHICH? I'VE BEEN SEARCHING ONLINE FOR AN HOUR NOW AND ALL CYLINDER DIAGRAMS AND SUCH ARE FOR THE 1.8T RATHER THAN 3.0 V6. IF ANYONE CAN PLEASE HELP ME OUT.. ALSO, IN THE MEANTIME IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I CAN CHECK OR DO?

passenger side, front of car toward rear is 1-3, drivers side, front to rear is 4-6. to save yourself some money.instead of just buying coils and throwing them in. take the coil from that cylinder, and swap it with another coil. then run the car a while, and when the code comes back, see if its still at that cylinder. the trick is to just change one thing at a time. if the code is still for the second cylinder, even with a difernt coil there, try changing that injector with another one. just some tips, good luck

 

Ok cool, so just to clarify... The middle coil on the passanger's side is cylinder #2. If it not the coil and the injector, how do I even get to the injector and/or replace it?

 

Correct. Middle coil on passenger side, as long as your left hand driver. Dont want to confuse any brits out there. Put the coil in. Theres alot of things that can cause misfires but on that engine id bet most everything i own on the coil. Theres even a tech bullitin to replace all coils if they arent up to a certain part number. However if you arent sure or want to be certain ,swapping the coil to another cylinder is a fantasitic way to isolate the problem.
