Please HELP with diagnosis code P1020
I have an Audi A4 Avent 2.0 FSI 03 Plate.
I have had twodiagnosis tests at Audi I am finally left with the answer that it has something to do with the Fuel Pressure Reglator being to low (P1020 Fuel Pressure Control)
However they have told me that they can not pin point what exactly needs to be replaced as it could be a number of things to do with the fuel regulator.
The guy I spoke to at Audi was very helpful, but said he can't commit to what the actual problem was unless they tested the car, but as the problem only seems to occur after driving 40 minutes or so at high speed, this looks to be impossible.
Audi have recommended that maybe I should change the Fuel pump and filter, but won't commit to this, its just a guide. but then today the car lost comlpete power after an hour of driving and stopped but after leaving to cool for a few minutes it started fine and running ok for now.
Was told by a guy in Audi scrap yard that if it was the fuel pump I would hear a buzzing sound from the back of the car, which I haven't.
Can anybody give any advice regarding this issue, however big or small as I am at a complete blank on what to do for the best. Especially as car completley stopped yesterday then after a few minutes was running again
Hope to receive some response.
Thanks
John

RE: Please HELP with diagnosis code P1020
Could be a few things. Theres beens some problems with the low pressure fuel sensor reading too high. That causes the ecm to cut back power to the fuel pump which gradually drops pressure in the fuel system and eventually causes issues with the vehicles running. If this were the case, i would expect to see presures in value block 103 above 6 bar with a pump percentage less than 40. It should be about 5 bar with the percentage about 50. The pump doesnt necessarly have to be buzzing to be bad. Ive also seen bad pumps and fuel filters as well as bad fuel pump control modules cause that fault. You really need to get some pressure readings from a mechanical gauge and compare to the value blocks in the ecm to get an accurate diagnosis.
