Default HALDEX UNIT 4 WHEEL DRIVE

Hi evryone, I have been advised that the Haldex Unit needs attention on my S3. So they say the drive is not being sent to the rear wheels... Has anyone known this and understand the complications involved and the cost!!!????

Cheers.

The AWD systems are a l'il different, but I hadda similar prob with my Opel Calibra, several years ago. Your car is basically FWD car, with a PTO that goes to the transfer case (the Halidex unit), which directs some portion of the power to the real diff... Mie hadda broken internal seal that caused all the gear oil to pump itself OUT of the case, somehow or another. I still had FWDability, but no AWD. Ended up costing me $4K, including labor, but that was a decade ago, in Germany...

You may as well bend ovver NOW, and avoid the rush[]

Thanks for the help guys... not sure how I feel right now but no more money means it will have to stay as it is for now if it's gonna cost that sort of dosh... Audi tell me the rear diff needs to be sent away - referb and sent back they're talking figures of 3k not out of my wallet mate!!!!

I am a little suprised though as they only tested the system once they had changed the Haldex oil?

seems your not the only one with this "so called 4x4" when its a FWD with assisted RWD, chances are its quite normal for this system to act this way

OK, he diddit as a joke, but, I hear he later woke up in a bathtub FULL of ice, with a note scribbled on his bathroom mirror in crayon thanking him for doing "business" with *THEM* <cue scary music...>
