Default Question with haldex unit

My question is in concern with the Haldex Control Unit, and that if it is bad( according to autowerks it is) will it screw up anythingin the drivetrain or anything at all for that matter? Now i've had a couple people tell me it shouldn't hurt anything, just that you will be running FWD and i've also have hadpeople tell me that it could screw up your transfer case...I don't know what to take into consideration...I'm kinda swaying my judgement towards no problems at all because a mechanic at autowerks "thinks" it shouldn't hurt anything. Anyone out there have or had this problem? and did it cause anymore?

strange request? as I remember its perminant 4x4 so if halidex went down im sure there would be significant problems, the system needs to be checked for fault codes till then no point guesing post the codes here

if the controller goes bad, I'd guess the clutch packs wouldn't ingage (unless they ended up stuck on).

If scenario #1. Big deal, you're front wheel drive until you get it fixed.
If scenario #2. Big deal, you're permanent AWD, just take it easy in the rain because the rear end is gonna get real loose until you get it fixed.

I had a bad controller, bought the car like that, drove it for over a month until I found the HPA Blue controller on sale for $750. Problem solved (mostly). I found if I'm driving for over 3hrs, usually on the highway, the rear tires won't engage until the cars cooled down a bunch. I doubt thats a related problem though, I had the same thing happen with my last TT driving up from H2O, and the controller was fine on that one, and regularly maintained.

its a gas mileage thing.
the controller is programmed to not engage at highway speeds for long periods.
Fwd is more fuel economical...

not exactly, I wouldn't have any way to notice the controller not engaging at highway speeds. The problem is when I take an exit, come to a red light, and put down a nice smoky front wheel peel with my AWD car as I pull away.

maybe it is set to not engage until you've shut off the engine during long trips...
