Default Help - Emission Control Light

Hi all

I have a very annoying 'orange 'emission Control Light', that comes and goes on my A3 (58plate), 40kmiles, just been serviced in Nov 2011(when light first reared its ugly head - then went off) reappeared for one day last week?! -MOT yesterday, of course not on when plugged into machine and all garage could say was 'as intermittent fault, dont worry, it had logged Fuel fault, and as Fuel filter was changed in service, they said maybe a 'dodgy' batch of fuel cloggin it??, of course when left garage - hello, light came on again!!
I am near to putting a sticker over the light, as it is just annoying me!!
Please spread your knowledge
Cheers

**Had EGR valve replaced, and replugged into scanner, saying history showing fuel imbalance? Maybe Fuel filter but been replaced x4month ago**

The crystal ball is broken today so you will need to scan the ecm for any fault codes. If you do not have a scanner you will have to bring it some ware that does.
It is just a guessing game otherwise.
