New to this forum and desperate for some help!

I own and Audi A3 1.8T 2007 (engine code BYT)

unfortunatly the engine decided to die on me only 70k on the clock !! not what i expected for an Audi!

My mechanic informed me that it had happened due to the plastic tensioners holding the timing chain breaking which has caused damage to all valves pistons ect.

Has anyone else had this problem before ? i have been hearing that it is quite normall for this engine type and have been advised its a bad engine!

My plan now is to find a new engine which i am finiding exteremly difficult , doesnt seem to be any about ! Anybody have any ideas where i might find a replacement engine ?

Also are there any other engines that i can look for that are also compatable with the BYT engine?

I am a bit weary of spending all this money to get the car fixed , only for the same thing to happen again! So does anyone know if there is anything i can do to prevent this from happening again ? is there maybe some upgraded tensioner kit i can install ?

Check Ebay for an engine. If you find one, have the timing chain pads replaced before having the engine installed if there is any question about them. Check with Shokan in NY.. http://www.shokan.com/used-audi-parts.php
