Default Help with oil pressure please...

I have a 99 A6 2.7, I've had it for a little over a year now and its been a vampire for my wallet. the main problem i have with it is the oil pressure. for whatever reason my car says the oil pressure is low and gives me a cute oil can picture and gives a lovely beeping sound everytime i slow down or stop. ive taken it to Sears Auto Center twice and they dont know what's wrong with it. do yall have any idea?

sounds like you need more than an oil pressure switch. you could try swapping it out, but it sounds more like you have a more seriousl problem. if the light only comes on when you slow down or stop it probably means the pressure is actually dropping then. you might have a clogged oil pickup, or the pump could be on its way out

not too many things that will do that

oil clearences may have gotten too big over the years and now it has low pressure(rebuild)

are you sure you have the right oil in it? (what kind?)

did sears tap into the oil and find out what the pressure really is? (what is it?)

sensor could be f ed up

and there is the imfamous oil pump on b5 audis that go out due to improper maintenence.

Hi, I had a similar problem with my car too. I would drive it and get the oil pressure light on, and sometimes it would run like nothing.

Tested and diagnosed a faulty Oil pressure sender unit. I replaced that and problem fixed.
The part cost like $30.

Good luck.
