Sorry for the noob post, but I can't find any FAQs here for buying VAC COM stuff.

I'd like to get a scanner of some sort for reading and clearing codes on my 98 A4. VAC COM seems to be more informative than OBD2 so that's what I'm looking into. There are numerous cables available on ebay that boast compatibility with VAG COM v4.09, and also claim they are compatible with OBD2.

My question is: Are there any products I should stay away from or any that are reccomended?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

rosstech is the best http://www.ross-tech.com/ the licence is included so its fully opened but you need a computer/laptop near the car for connection, eBay stuff ? don't waste your money your only buying a cable with free software which need the licence anyway to fully run it
