How do I know if my timing belt has been changed?

I bought an 02 s4 with 95k miles on it. Is there any surefire way to tell if the timing belt has been changed? I asked the dealer, they only have records up to about 50k.

You can pull the cam covers and inspect the belt but even that isnt a guarantee. Better to be safe than sorry.
