RE: INDEPENDENT FOG LIGHTS
depending on yoru vehicle, I believe it can be done with teh VAG-tool, for some models/years. Do a search. I'm sure there are at least two posts answering that very thing, in the archives.

RE: INDEPENDENT FOG LIGHTS
It's still the same idea. The power for the fog relay is supplied by the switched leg of the headlight relay. Use a test light and probe each wire on the fog relay. When you find one that lights up the test light when you turn on the headlights, that's the power leg for the fog relay. Run that (through a fuse equal in rating to your OEM fog fuse) directly to 12V power and you'll be able to use them anytime. Be careful though - you will still have power to the lights when the ignition is off. Probably your car is like the B5 and has the terminal posts under the dash - connect that power leg for the fog relay to the yellow post under the dash, and you'll then have ignition-switched foglight power. You can use them whenever you want, independent of the headlights, but they'll shut off with the car.
