I don't know if anyone is going to know the exact lowest mm that will pass md state insp on here. Probably something your going to have to call the dmv for. And if you do end up changing the rear brakes, you always do pads and rotors togetheras a set.

Sir, I could not resist the chance to say nothing important

You bought a "Used" Audi A4?

If you are in Maryland, you know that you need a second, thirdand possibly afourth opinion! If the shop doesn't have cars lined up to have there cars inspected, something is wrong! Long lines in Maryland means "PEOPLE ARE GETTING TREATED WITH CARE"....
no line means,"I TOOK THE LAST CUSTOMER FOR ENOUGH UNTIL THE NEXT PIGEON DROPS-IN"...

Be careful, becasue there are Sharks in your bathtub in Maryland, Virginia and D.C. You have to be very selective in and around the Beltway!

keep in mind also that in most states, unless the tester is cool, when they run the test and you fail, it gets tagged to the vin. if you go somewhere else, it may pop up on the computer and they may tell you the same thing if the last guy entered the fail code. In GA, inspection takes about 5 minutes and never once have they checked brake wear. Sorry to hear that for you. Was it an as is sale or certified? If so, tell them you can't pass inspection. See if they will help you. Good Luck
