Default Memory saver?

So I have a Schumacher memory saver. It says under the warning to insulate the battery Connector cables after I remove the battery to prevent them from touching each other or the chasis because it can cause a short.
The manual also says when vehicle is turned off, to make sure your vehicle does not use more energy than the energy being supplied through the Schumacher memory saver. It says to go by the lowest fuse rating. It says to measure the battery terminal with an amperage meter. And go by the vehicles book which should list the energy usage when the vehicle is off. I have an a8.
If you could give any suggestions as to what to use or how to insulate battery cables after battery is removed and whether this Schumacher me. Or saver will work on my vehicle or what book I need or how to look up energy consumption after vehicle is off.

You will only need to insulate the positive cable. When removing it, just wrap it up in a rag or towel securing it with a rubber band or something. The terminals are pretty far apart on the A8's as the battery for these cars is fairly large so touching the cable ends together takes a bit of effort. As long as you wrap the positive cable end up and secure it, you should be good to go.
