MHEV function

MHEV function
Considering an A7 - new or CPO...I have gathered that post 20??, they were fitted with a 48V MHEV function using a belt driven motor/generator to recapture coasting energy, facilitate the traffic "start-stop" function and perhaps fill in a bit for turbo lag. A key question for me: Is the 48V motor generator the only means of starting the car or is there a conventional 12V battery/starter motor system for cold starts?
The genesis of this concern is data from another forum (and maker) describing the PEHV system that, despite having a 12V system for many functions, is solely dependent on the 48V motor/generator fitted between the engine and gearbox with the result that, if the 48V battery runs down, the car cannot be started with a conventional "jump"
As an apartment dweller with no garage or access to charging facilities, that scenario is unacceptable and would rule out any examples of the A7 post MEHV introduction.
Thanks
