MY CVT TRANSMISSION NIGHTMARE!!!!!!
i have a 2003 a4 3.0 with 117 k on the dash. right around 70k miles i began to notice a problem with the transmission and now its really bad. I mean it drives ok but the shifting is real rough and it jumps constantly. the dealer wants $5500 for a remanufactured cvt transmission and it's damn near impossible to find one of those used from a salvage yard. My question is does anyone know of where i can find a cheaper option or what is the best suggested way out of this problem. I thought about trading in the car but am i gonna get wacked for the trade in value real badly because of this problem? Finally can this transmission be rebuilt because i've heard both yes and no. I'm a real audi enthusiasts an love my car very much which is why it's so hard to part with her but i kind a don't want to be paying out the rear for the next couple of years either. Help......

RE: MY CVT TRANSMISSION NIGHTMARE!!!!!!
I would be looking for recalls as this is a known fault
Gearshift jolts; individual gears slipping; gearshifts take too long Note[/align] The illustration shows this fault with the valve body dismantled. The valve body must not be dismantled for workshop servicing. t Possible fault: One of the 3 rubber dampers in the valve body cracked -arrow-. t Fault rectification: – Check condition of ATF →Chapter. If ATF is OK: – Renew valve body →Chapter. If ATF is not OK, the fault was not identified and repaired quickly enough. In this case, clutch “G” is probably also damaged. – Dismantle and clean complete gearbox. – Clean ATF pipes and ATF cooler. – Dismantle and check all clutches. – Renew valve body →Chapter.
